An Assistant Property Manager supports the lead property manager of a residential or commercial development, overseeing financial and marketing business while also interacting with renters. Duties and Responsibilities

An assistant property manager processes new tenant applications, addresses and resolves tenant issues and complaints, oversees any necessary construction, assists in marketing the property, and manages the financial aspects of the business.

They process rent payments and dues, make inquiries about late payments and assist in handling eviction issues, assist in hiring staff that is necessary for the upkeep of the property, respond to emergency maintenance calls, etc.

Qualifications

The Assistant Property Manager demonstrates the strong organizational skills necessary to oversee a number of different properties and has knowledge of the real estate industry, including market trends, prices, and state and federal housing regulations.He/She demonstrates familiarity with financial management software used to balance budget and track payments and must be willing and able to travel to various property sites. They should interact and engage in a friendly manner with potential and current tenants.

A High school diploma or GED is required for this position, and an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Management preferred. Real estate, property management, or customer service experience is required, as well.An Assistant Property Manger is expected to complete necessary Fair Housing and Occupational Safety and Hazard Administration certifications.
